A call-off should start the coverage workflow—not another group text.

When an Officer calls off through OffDuty HQ, the position reopens and approved company Officers are notified. Your scheduler can focus on the replacement decision instead of rebuilding a contact list.

Reopen the coverage automatically

A successful call-off releases the assigned position and flags the shift as high priority. The opening becomes available for the company’s replacement workflow. This automation removes manual reopening work; it does not guarantee that another Officer will fill the shift.

Reach the whole approved company roster

The system creates in-app notices and queues individual email notifications for all approved Officers of that company. Scheduler store restrictions do not narrow that Officer audience, including for Officers who also hold restricted staff roles. Staff notices follow their operational permissions.

Keep alerts connected to current coverage

Queued opening messages are checked against the current shift before delivery, helping avoid sending an opening that has already been filled, cancelled, or ended. Published assignments and schedule changes also drive notifications. Email arrival depends on delivery services; notifications do not prove that someone has read them.

How it works

  1. The assigned Officer opens the shift and submits Call off while that action is available.
  2. OffDuty HQ reopens the position and flags the shift for attention.
  3. Approved company Officers receive in-app notices and are queued for individual email alerts.
  4. Officers request the opening; eligible requests can be assigned automatically when the shift uses auto-approval, while other requests require company review.

Common questions

Do only Officers assigned to that scheduler get notified?

No. Opening notifications are company-wide for approved Officers. They are not restricted to a scheduler’s assigned stores or to an Officer’s submitted availability.

Does the system automatically choose the replacement?

Officers choose which openings to request. Eligible requests can be assigned automatically when the shift uses auto-approval; other requests require company review. Reopening and notifications do not guarantee that a replacement will volunteer.
